Executive Director Job Description
Expectation of Time: 40 hours per week
Compensation: $50,000 annual salary
Report To: Board of Directors
ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Cultivate is a Community Development Corporation that exists to be a collaborative community
resource by joyfully partnering with residents and community stakeholders to know neighbors;
foster local leadership; and ensure a vibrant neighborhood for all.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be primarily responsible for
implementing the vision and mission of Cultivate CDC. The Executive Director will also be
responsible for leading the staff, developing and implementing programming, and ensuring
financial sustainability for Cultivate CDC.
Working on-the-ground with residents, the Executive Director will ensure that our neighbors in
Milo-Grogan are being cared for and empowered through holistic means.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Organizational Strategy & Vision
Cast vision for and implementation of Cultivate CDC’s strategic plan, in tandem with Board of Directors
Maintain the budgetary and visionary perimeters for Cultivate CDC
Continue in the creation of administrative systems, policies, and procedures that ensure sound & effective organizational and fiscal management.
Ensure Cultivate CDC uses best management practices for all affairs and is compliant with all local, state, and federal laws.
Compile and Complete Annual Report for the organization Board of Directors Relationship
Attend meetings | foster healthy relationships with each Board member
Facilitate transparent communication between board and staff
Actively engage the Board of Directors to enhance its role and responsibilities for governance, fiscal stability, and strategic vision.
Staff & Volunteer Development
Facilitate weekly staff meetings
Reserve time for weekly check-in with each member of staff
Schedule monthly staff personal & professional development opportunities
Create a healthy and safe environment and an organizational culture that values and celebrates diversity, equity, collaboration, professionalism, and respect.
Financial Stewardship
Supervise fundraising efforts, ensuring financial stability for the organization and upholding ethical and legal standards for nonprofit organizations
Develop comprehensive fundraising strategies that obtain financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations.
Maintain donor relations, including but not limited to: Veritas Community Church and The Columbus Foundation
Manage budget, working with the organization’s treasurer to develop and implement an annual budget that aligns with Cultivate’s Strategic Plan, manage day-to-day fiscal operations with integrity and efficiency.
Community Ambassador
Network with strategic community partners
Develop and nurture positive relationships in the neighborhood and city
Serve as the chief spokesperson and representative of Cultivate CDC within the neighborhood, to the community, and elsewhere to enhance the organization's visibility and impact.
Programming
Supervise the Monthly Newsletter Process, working with volunteers and the Civic Association to finalize, print, and distribute monthly Civic newsletter to neighbors
Supervise Civic Engagement:
Connect Cultivate with neighborhood-led events that Cultivate can sponsor and support (sewing classes, flower arrangement class, prayer walks, etc) Find creative ways we can support & partner with all neighborhood partners (Rec Center partnership, Civic Association, Boys & Girls Club, etc.)
Support the Civic Association:
Acting as their fiscal sponsor, writing & submitting grants
Organizing meetings by calling residents, providing meals, etc.
Recognize strengths and empower local residents
Manage The Milo-Grogan Green Space
Manage Emergency Assistance Fund, home repair requests, and follow-up

Professional Experience
A bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, political science, non-profit management, or related field. An associates degree with applicable experience will also be considered.
3 to 4 years’ experience working with developing neighborhoods.
Demonstrated ability to manage operations and work with a Board of Directors.
Proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and grant administration.
